The 'Peanut' Popper is a small topwater popper lure for smaller bait feeds and inshore/near shore situations when fish can be more selective or picky. When predatory fish are feeding on 'smaller forage' such as peanut bunker, bay anchovies, silver sides, and small squid, the compact size and precise action of these lures can be key to producing strikes.
The lure may be small in size, but the cupped mouth produces a lot of commotion and splash while the shape and balance of the body keep the lure presented properly in the strike zone. The shape and weight of this lure at nearly 1/2 ounce makes this lure a solid choice when small soft plastics could also be used, but are otherwise not great choices due to fishing conditions.
The lure is best fished on lighter tackle setups and rods that have a flex that can 'load up' when casting to achieve good distances. It can be fished with subtle twitches and can be especially deadly when pauses are integrated after a twitch and 'pop' action of the lure.
